Day 200 – Day 200

I’m not sure how many times I’ve tried
but I know how many I’ve failed–
every single time.
I don’t know what I’m writing for,
I don’t know why I can’t let go.
There are no right words,
only Halloween costumes,
getting it so temptingly close
to the actual thing which I can’t
put a finger on, I can’t let it rest
and I can’t get it right.
They say it’s a journey,
I guess I believe that–
I guess, I guess
it’s a fact of life that
the more you try
the more you wonder
what for.

  1. We thank you, for your wizardry with words. We find our emotions, the things we think, all lost and swimming and sometimes drowning in your creative word play. A picture paints a thousand words, they said, but oh how your words paint two hundred pictures. (Did you see what I did there?) May this comment, be a voice for many, when we say thank you for your time, your effort, your brilliant poetry that is a daily comfort for many. Nameless faces and followers, who press the like button, but actually wish there were a button that said, “we love it”
You are in the summer of your life and city right now, but as emotions and life are a whirlwind in each of our lives, thank you for your navigation. May you find rest, and inspiration and lots of moments of laughter and peace and memories that will be etched in your mind for years to come. May good books come your way, interesting conversations and life changing moments. If you had the time, you could count that this comment to your poem number two hundred also has two hundred words exactly, Microsoft Word Count just told me so.

    1. Wow. Wow! I hardly think I deserve all this praise but you are very sweet 🙂 I’ve still got 165 days to go, so no celebrating yet!

  2. I dunno but I’m happy you’re doing it (Assuming this relates to the daily poetry thing)!

It’s nice reading well-written poetry. In a world where words are easy to blurt and everyone has a soapbox, your words are refreshing, friend!

    1. Thank you, it’s comforting to know that it reaches the ears of like-minded people, even if I have my own struggles with it!
